About Shodh Coffee

Built from curiosity, shaped by
the experience of discovery.

"There was an afternoon — a café run by someone we knew, a slice of orange, a rose petal, and two coffees that tasted nothing like what coffee was supposed to taste like. We asked too many questions. The answers led to more questions. That's where this started."

Coffee Process
The Journey

A Search. An Exploration.
A Discovery.

We're Dhairya and Jay — friends from college, both 22. The months after that went deep. More coffees, more origins, more processes.

We set up our own V60. Attended cuppings, met roasters, and began to understand the science and philosophy behind what we were tasting. The further we went, the more there was to find.

That search never settled. It expanded — from what else is out there to how do we share what we're finding, while the search continues?

That led to Shodh.

Our Roots

From Surat

We're based in Surat — not a city you'd typically associate with specialty coffee, though that's changing quickly. A café culture is forming — around beans, origins, process, and craft.

"In a dry state, cafés become the social backbone.
That energy is real, and growing."

We're rooted here. The ambition isn't.

The Rigor

What Stays With Us

Before anything reaches roasting, the search is wide and deliberate. We spend time across producers, processes, regions, and ideas — reading, asking, revisiting, and going deeper into details most people skip.

Sometimes that extends into collaboration — working with producers or roasters around process or roast direction to understand what a coffee can become, not just what it already is.

From there, coffees are tested rigorously — roasted on a sample roaster, cupped across multiple sessions, profiled, and compared side by side. Structure, clarity, and consistency are non-negotiable.

Only then do we take them beyond the cupping table — with a mix of people: beginners, baristas, café owners, and everyday drinkers. Not to replace evaluation, but to complete it.

We pay attention to what happens in that moment — when someone pauses, when a conversation shifts, when a cup feels like more than just a drink.

If a coffee holds up technically and can change how it's perceived, even briefly — it stays.

The Lineup

Habits

Habits are coffees you return to without thinking — consistent, dependable, and built to hold up across brews and days. Not simple by default, but familiar in the way they fit into a routine.

Seekers

Seekers are for the curious. More expressive coffees shaped by process or character. They change as you spend time with them — across brews, temperatures, and attention. Not difficult, but not passive. They ask for attention, and reward it.

Trove

Trove is where we keep coffees that feel worth holding onto. Small lots, distinct harvests, or profiles that carry weight. Not for daily drinking — for opening with intention, knowing it won't be around for long.

The Lifestyle

Beyond Coffee

Shodh is built around coffee, but shaped by more than it.

The same instinct that leads us to a coffee leads us to a track worth sharing, a line worth sitting with, an image that holds something we haven't figured out how to say yet.

It shows up occasionally — music we're listening to, thoughts we couldn't let go of, art that felt relevant to nothing and everything at once.

Not a content strategy. Just the rest of what curiosity looks like.

Shodh

We went through a lot of names. This one stayed because it said everything the story did — to seek, to search, to explore.

That's what the coffee did to us.
And it hasn't stopped.

That's what we want it to do for you.
